“I never met a man I
didn’t like.” That old Will Rogers’ saying is perhaps an appropriate way to begin a
piece about William Glenn Vaughn, “Billy” to most whom knew and loved him.
Indeed, the single most outstanding characteristic Billy had was a very natural
ability to strike up a conversation and make a friend with just about everyone and anyone
he met or ran into.
In keeping
with the endearing quality of Billy’s natural, friendly way, the purpose of this
website is to share some stories, remembrances, and pictures about Billy; the
places he’s been, the people he's met, the successes he achieved, the incredible
challenges he faced, and his mighty struggle with alcoholism that vainly, but
without success, has attempted to define Billy.
The remembrances presented here are a personal, loving
attempt by us, Billy’s family, to try and capture Billy as we knew and loved him.
Some of the stories may perhaps inspire, some will make you laugh, and some
will make you cry. This website is a tribute to Billy. This to us is “really Billy.”
